The Pitch Shot

The pitch shot is made easier and more consistent when the lower body moves in sync with the arms and hands.  Lack of any movement in the lower body can alter the path of the club through the ball.  The weight, which begins mostly on the left foot, transfers slightly to the right foot and then back to the left foot during the swing.  The strike of the ball happens during the transfer of weight from the right to left foot.  If you return your hips and elbows during impact to their original position at address, it will help you time the motion of your arms and lower body.  Try to picture the smoothness of a rocking chair.  Your arms and body rock a little for short shots and a little more for longer pitch shots.  The bottom line is that you need to make a mini swing around the greens.  Motion is always better than stagnant!
